Daughter of Mayor-Elect Karen Bass Injured In West Adams Hit-And-Run
Police confirmed to Patch that a crash occurred around 9 a.m. in the area of Ferndale Street and South La Brea Avenue.

LOS ANGELES, CA —The daughter of Los Angeles Mayor-elect Karen Bass was injured in a hit-and-run crash Thursday morning in a West Adams neighborhood.
Bass shared in a statement that her daughter was injured and police confirmed there was a hit-and-run but did not specify who was injured.
Police told Patch that a crash occurred around 9 a.m. in the area of Ferndale Street and South La Brea Avenue, where a Black male driving a newer-model white sedan collided with another vehicle.

The driver in the victim's vehicle was taken to a hospital with minor injuries and the suspects are still at large, police added.
"While driving today, one of my daughters was the victim of a hit and run," Bass said in a statement shared with multiple outlets. "Thankfully, she was not seriously hurt and is home after being cared for at the hospital. I am grateful to the first responders and health care professionals who ensured her well-being. The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the circumstances of this incident."

Bass is the mayor-elect of Los Angeles, the first woman to be elected to office. According to her official website, Bass had one daughter, Emilia Bass-Lechuga, and a son-in-law, Michael Wright who died together in a car accident in 2006. She has four stepchildren, Scythia, Omar, Yvette, and Ollin, and two grandchildren, Henry and Michael.
