Decades-Old Photos May Provide Clues In LA Burglary
The LAPD believes the people in these photos, two of 103 uncovered during a burglary investigation, may have been burglarized themselves.
LOS ANGELES, CA — The Los Angeles Police Department is seeking the public's help in identifying a family whose photographs were recently recovered by detectives while they were investigating a burglary — with the belief that the family may be the subjects of a different burglary themselves.
LAPD Detective Ian Lewis says that on April 27 at about 1 a.m., two suspects broke into a garage in the 19000 block of Halsted Street in Northridge, in the area of Plummer Street and Wilbur Avenue. The two, described as men between the ages of 18 and 25, stole the victim's Mercedes-Benz.
The car was recovered three days later in Maywood. Inside, Lewis said police uncovered 103 1990s-era photographs, leading him to believe that the suspects had also burglarized the home of the people in the photographs.
"This [makes me think] they utilized the car to commit another burglary and left behind evidence," Lewis said, speculating that the photos were part of boxes containing other valuable items the suspects took with them.

Because the photo subjects were of a different ethnicity, Lewis said he doubted that they were related to the suspects.

Police originally released two images from the stash, but have since removed them to protect the photo subjects' privacy.
