Del Taco Takes On Taco Bell With Freebie Carnitas Deal

LOS ANGELES, CA — To celebrate the return of its Carnitas menu, Del Taco will give away for free one day next week, at a Los Angeles location, a serving of its popular, shredded-pork options for customers who show up with a Taco Bell item, according to company officials.

The Lake Forest-based Del Taco announced this week the limited-return of its Carnitas offerings, a varied menu cooked in small-batch kettles for "an authentic flavor," managers said.

On Wednesday, Sept. 18 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Del Taco at 8651 So. La Tijera Ave. in Los Angeles will be among three sites nationwide chosen to host the Del Taco vs. Taco Bell giveaway.

"Guests simply show their Taco Bell purchase for a free serving of Del Taco Carnitas to top their item," the company said. Other locations selected for the national promotion are in Oklahoma City and Atlanta areas, according to the restaurant.

“Carnitas is a favorite amongst our fans, with guests asking for it year-round, and is something that is not offered by our biggest competitor,” said Barry Westrum, Del Taco’s chief marketing officer. “We know the craveable flavor and quality of our shredded pork Carnitas can elevate any menu item, and we’re willing to prove it!”

Lament not if you are unable to make it to the L.A. eatery nex week. Fans still can enjoy the chance to try Carnitas "gratis," as Del Taco is offering free Carnitas Combo Burrito or Carnitas Loaded Fries —with any purchase— through The Del Taco App, with promo code "TOPTHEBELL" through Sept. 25.
