LOS ANGELES, CA — A delivery truck driver lost a leg Saturday when he was struck by an alleged DUI driver while standing at the back of his double-parked vehicle.

The crash was reported about 5 a.m. Saturday at Cesar Chavez Avenue near Mott Street, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Drake Madison told City News Service.

The victim was loading the truck when the vehicle driven by a male driver crashed into him, Madison said.

The victim was taken by paramedics to a hospital, where he had stable vital signs following surgery, the officer said.

The DUI suspect was taken into custody, but his identity was not immediately released, Madison said.
