Drug Deal Freeway Shooting Shuts Down 110 For Hours
Police describe the car-to-car shooting as a drug deal gone wrong. One of the vehicles got away.
GARDENA, CA — A shootout between two luxury vehicles involved in a failed drug deal shutdown the southbound Harbor (110) Freeway four hours Wednesday morning.
Though no one was shot in the car-to-car shooting, one of the cars crashed into another vehicle, sending two people to the hospital, according to the California Highway Patrol. One of the vehicles involved in the shooting got away.
It all started around 4 a.m. in the Gardena, when The drivers of the vehicles — a white Infiniti SUV and a gray BMW SUV — met up for a drug deal, according to police.

"There was a drug deal gone bad in the city of Gardena involving ... the occupants of two vehicles," California Highway Patrol Officer Simeon Yarbrough told KNX Newsradio.
The drivers took off, speeding south on the 110 Freeway, leading to a car-to-car shooting near Redondo Beach Boulevard. No one is believed to have been struck by the gunfire, but one of the vehicles wound up crashing into the back of a Cadillac Escalade, KNX reported.

"The occupants of the Escalade were uninjured and taken to a safe place," Yarbrough told KNX. "The occupants of the gray BMW SUV were injured from the traffic collision but they weren't hit by any rounds."
The BMW occupants were taken to a hospital, but the people in the Infiniti remained at large.
The southbound freeway was completely closed, and it remained blocked until about 10 a.m.
