DUI Checkpoints Planned In Los Angeles This Weekend

DUI checkpoints are planned near LAX and San Pedro this weekend.

LOS ANGELES, CA — The Los Angeles Police Department is planning two DUI checkpoints this weekend.

  • Saturday from 6 to 11 p.m. at Imperial Highway and Main Street, just west of the 105 Freeway's terminus immediately south of LAX.
  • Sunday from 6 to 11 p.m. at Pacific Avenue and 10th Street in San Pedro.

Police said checkpoint locations are chosen based on data for impaired-driving related crashes and arrests.

"The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by educating drivers on the perils of DUI and by taking suspected impaired drivers off the road," the LAPD said in a release.
