Police at LAX have ramped up security amid ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Travelers at Los Angeles International Airport should expect to encounter officers armed with rifles, random vehicle checks and high-visibility patrols as part heightened security at LAX amid ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
The Los Angeles Airport Police on Wednesday confirmed it has increased security measures throughout LAX. The announcement comes after a series of strikes in Iran that killed the country's supreme leader.
Police said the response at the airport includes "additional patrols around LAX, enhanced high‑visibility presence inside the terminals, and random checkpoints at airport entry points."

"We remain committed to protecting and serving the aviation community, as well as the residents and businesses surrounding the airport," police wrote in a statement.
