Family Fun at CARVED in Descanso Gardens

Located about 25 minutes from downtown Los Angeles in La Canada Flintridge, Carved will be displayed along a one mile easy walking path in Descanso Gardens.

Tickets go on sale today, October 1, 2019 for an entertaining and unique stroll to see over 1,000 hand-carved illuminated Jack O’Lanterns. Some are funny, some are scary, and about 75 are enormous 100-pound-plus pumpkins.

Professional local artists are featured carved these special jack-o’-lanterns into popular superheroes, politicians famous movie monsters and iconic celebrities. Along with pumpkins, there will be seasonal snacks and live carving demonstrations.

This is not the first time pumpkins have been showcased at Descanso. In 2014 and 2015 RISE of the Jack O’ Lanterns was staged in the Rose Garden. The popularity of that event inspired Descanso to create its own nighttime event, Enchanted: Forest of Light. But in the years since, Descanso has received countless requests from the public to bring back the Jack-o’-lanterns.

As part of the 2019 Carved experience, visitors are invited to watch the pumpkins being carved in the Gardens’ Van de Kamp Hall in the week leading up to the event.

General admission tickets cost $30 for nonmembers ($25 for members) and go on sale today, October 1, 2019. Founded as a public garden in 1953, Descanso Gardens is located at 1418 Descanso Drive, La Cañada Flintridge, CA 91011.
