Family Sells 1 Million Pennies Discovered In LA Crawlspace

LOS ANGELES — A California family has sold roughly one million pennies they found in bags and boxes in the crawlspace of a deceased relative’s Los Angeles home, according to reports.
The Reyes family discovered the $10,000 in small currency last fall, The New York Times reported. They opted to sell the pennies all together, listing them online for $25,000, due to the possibility that there could be a rare coin among the bunch, according to the Times.
John and Elizabeth Reyes told KTLA this week that they had sold the pennies, which were discovered in a home previously owned by Elizabeth’s father. They received at least 1,000 offers for the bounty, according to KTLA, which said that while the family wouldn’t disclose the final price, they were happy with the amount.
