Firefighters Rescue Animals From Burning Pet Shop In Los Angeles

Los Angeles Firefighters rescued dozens of mice, snakes, birds, turtles and other caged critters from a pet store fire Wednesday: BREAKING.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Firefighters rescued dozens of animals, lugging bird and mice cages, snakes, lizards and all kinds of critters from a fire-ravaged commercial building with a pet store in Los Angeles Wednesday morning.

Los Angeles fire fighters were called to the fire Wednesday around 1:35 a.m. in the 4700 block of South Broadway. When they arrived, the discovered dozens of animals threatened by billowing black smoke coming from the shop next door. They donned masks and rushed into the smoke-filled building to carry the pets to safety. In the end, dozens of animals were saved, including birds, guinea pigs and turtles. Within moments, cages and tanks lined the street of the shop, according to NBC4.

Crews were able to save every animal in the shop before knocking down the fire.

The fire was knocked down in 30 minutes, and the cause was under investigation, NBC4 reported.
