5 Freeway Reopens After Flooding Closure

The 5 Freeway was closed near Sheldon Street and all southbound traffic is being diverted to the 170 Freeway.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Flooding shut down the Golden State (5) Freeway in the North Hollywood area Thursday morning. By 12:30 p.m. the freeway was reopened.

The California Highway Patrol issued the full freeway closure SigAlert just after 10 a.m. at Sheldon Street in the due to heavy rain and flooding. All Southbound traffic was being diverted to the 170 Freeway, which was also under a SigAlert earlier Thursday morning due to a mudslide.
