LOS ANGELES, CA — A 35-year-old Florida woman was charged on Tuesday with trying to kill the singer Rihanna when she fired a semiautomatic rifle at her Beverly Crest home over the weekend, according to the District Attorney's Office.

Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, of Orlando, Florida, was charged with one count of attempted murder, 10 counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, two counts of shooting at an inhabited dwelling and one count of shooting at an inhabited vehicle, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

Ortiz's arraignment was continued to March 25. She's being held on $1.875 million bail. She was ordered to have no contact with Rihanna.

“Opening fire in any populated neighborhood is extremely dangerous, puts lives at risk and will be fully prosecuted,” District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman said. “Thankfully, no one was injured in this shooting, but this careless violence will not be tolerated in our community. Such shooters will find their next destination to be our jails and prisons.”

On Sunday at around 1:20 p.m., prosecutors say Ortiz drove up to the front of Rihanna's home on the 9500 block of Heather Road an fired several rounds at the house.

Helicopter footage after the shooting showed what appeared to be bullet holes in a gate. Radio dispatch for the incident said that at least 10 shots had been fired at the residence from a vehicle across the street from the property's gate. The vehicle, a white Tesla, fled from the scene, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Rihanna, her partner A$AP Rocky, their three small children and her mother were all on the property at the time, according to Hochman.

The suspect was located in the parking lot of the Sherman Oaks Galleria about 30 minutes after the gunfire was reported.

Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell said investigators believe Ortiz drove to the area from Florida, but it's not clear when.

Public records show her most recent address was in Orlando and that she has been a licensed speech pathologist for more than a decade.
