Homeless Man Attacked In Los Angeles: Cops

The fight was reported about 4:30 a.m. at Venice and Sawtelle boulevards.

LOS ANGELES, CA -- A homeless man was hit in the head with bolt cutters Saturday during an argument with another homeless man in the Palms area of Los Angeles, authorities said. The fight was reported about 4:30 a.m. at Venice and Sawtelle boulevards, according to Officer Mike Lopez of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section.

"It started with a verbal dispute and the suspect became angry so he picked up bolt cutters and hit the victim in the head," Lopez said.

The suspect apparently fled the scene with the bolt cutters, he said. Officers at the scene could not find them.
The victim had stable vital signs at a hospital, Lopez said.

Investigators will look at whether the assault has any relationship with the beatings of three sleeping homeless men early Sunday, he said. Two of those victims died.

A fisherman was found beaten to death Thursday morning under the Santa Monica Pier, but Santa Monica police were investigating that death, Lopez noted.
