Immigrant Families Welcome the Appointment of LAUSD Superintendent Andrés Chait
Parents cite Chait's experience, accessibility, and trust with immigrant families across the district.

Our Voice: Communities for Quality Education immigrant families welcome the appointment of Andrés Chait as superintendent of the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD).
Yesterday, the LAUSD Board of Education announced the appointment of Andrés Chait as superintendent. Although for many this may be new, over the years, many families have gotten to know Superintendent Chait through the various important roles he’s undertaken at the district – as teacher, principal, regional superintendent, Chief of the Operations, acting superintendent, and now superintendent of the second largest school district in the country.
As an advocate of immigrant families, I personally reached out to the superintendent when he led Operations regarding challenges parents faced within their local school communities. I always found Andrés Chait to be caring, thoughtful, and ready to provide an immediate response. More importantly, he understood how to address these challenges, and there was follow through. It was clear to me that Mr. Chait was a critical member within the LAUSD leadership team.

Upon being named acting superintendent, Mr. Chait immediately reached out to and met with Our Voice Latino and Indigenous immigrant families to sustain the relationship with parents and continue to receive valuable feedback about areas of concern and existing challenges. We greatly appreciate his openness to further engage and support Latino and Indigenous immigrant families.
We look forward to working with Superintendent Chait as he steers the school district through this very important transition. We are confident that his years of knowledge, experience, and relationships will sustain the district's continued success.
