LOS ANGELES — A woman is suing Jason Derulo over allegations the singer demanded sex in exchange for a record contract, according to NBC News.

Emaza Gibson filed the lawsuit Thursday in Los Angeles County court, accusing Derulo and Atlantic Records of offenses including sexual harassment, retaliation and breach of contract, the outlet reported.

“I have anxiety; I’m traumatized,” Gibson told NBC. “I’ve dealt with inhumane work situations.”

Derulo contacted Gibson in August 2021 about a deal for her to make a mixtape and album, according to NBC. While they were working together, she declined dinner invitations in an attempt to keep things professional and refused alcohol in order to maintain her voice, NBC reported, adding that when she did agree to drink with Derulo, he gave her far too much.

Derulo once told Gibson she might have to participate in “goat skin and fish scales,” which she understood as a demand for sex in order to attain success, according to NBC.

Gibson's deal was signed but she was never assigned a project manager, NBC reported, and the last time she saw Derulo he charged at her and berated her when she was late to a recording session due to traffic. Atlantic dropped her in September 2022, according to NBC.

“I’m at this point where I’m back to zero and I have nothing,” she told the outlet.

Gibson is seeking wages, lost earnings, compensation and other benefits as well as emotional damages, according to NBC, which reported that neither representatives for Derulo nor Atlantic responded to a request for comment.
