Kidnapping Suspect Leads LAPD On Chase With Child In Vehicle

A SUV driver suspected of kidnapping led police on a chase through South Los Angeles before eventually surrendering.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A suspected kidnapper led police on a chaotic chase Tuesday night through Los Angeles. The chase ended in South Los Angeles with the police taking the suspect in custody and carrying a child from the vehicle.

Los Angeles Police Department officers began pursuing a suspect driving a white SUV with one child inside in the area of Imperial Highway and Broadway, KCAL9 reported just after 8:30 p.m.

The suspect led police westbound on Imperial Highway toward Los Angeles International Airport before looping back and stopping in a driveway in the area of East 95th Street and South Main Street about 9 p.m.

The suspect exited and re-entered the SUV several times before LAPD officers advanced and took them into custody about 9:05 p.m. Officers also removed one child from the SUV and took them into protective custody.

It was not clear if the child was involved in the alleged kidnapping or what the child relationship was to the suspect.
