Kobe Bryant, Crash Victims Public Memorial Set For Feb 24: Report
Los Angeles will hold a public memorial Feb. 24 at the Staples Center for victims of the Jan. 26 helicopter crash, according to reports.

LOS ANGLES, CA — A public memorial will be held outside the Staples Center on Feb. 24 for Kobe Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter Gianna, and the seven others killed last month in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Information about the specifics of the event were not immediately available, but the reported Feb. 24 date does match the No. 24 Bryant wore for many years with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Los Angeles mayor Eric Garcetti talked to reporters last week about organizing a memorial.

"There will absolutely be a memorial to mark the contributions of this incredible man and not only him, but to commemorate the loss of his daughter and all the other families that were there," Garcetti said to local media. "We don't have that date finalized but we've been talking every day to the Lakers."
John, Keri and Alyssa Altobelli, Sarah and Payton Chester, Christina Mauser and pilot Ara Zobayan were all killed in the helicopter crash.
