The United States will be represented by Team Princeton, sixth in the tour standings. Its four-player roster includes two players from the U.S. team that won the FIBA 3x3 World Cup in June, forward Kareem Maddox, a former Oak Park High School standout, and guard Damon Huffman.
Forward Robbie Hummel, a three-time All-Big Ten Conference first-team selection from Purdue who played two seasons with the Minnesota Timberwolves and was selected as the MVP of the FIBA 3x3 World Cup, was injured in practice this week and will miss the tournament.
The rest of the 12-team field consists of three teams from Serbia, including top-ranked Novi Sad, two from Brazil and one each from Mongolia, the Netherlands, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Slovenia and Switzerland.
There will also be dunk and 3-point shooting contests.
3x3 basketball is played on a half court. The games are 10 minutes long or end when one team has scored 21 points. A shot made inside the 6.75- meter (approximately 22 feet, 1 inch) arc is worth one point, as is a free throw. Shots made outside the arc are worth two points.
There will also be a tournament conducted by Hoop It Up, the nation's largest grass roots 3x3 basketball tour and a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Tournament. Registration to participate in the esports tournament can be made at matcherino.com/tournaments/18913.
Festival-goers can play a nearly 4-foot tall Four in a Row game and larger versions of chess and checkers.
Entertainment will be provided by DJ Mal-Ski, the official disc jockey of the Los Angeles Rams, USC and Los Angeles Sparks, and MC Knowa, the official MC and DJ for FIBA 3x3 tournaments worldwide.
Art demonstrations are scheduled throughout both days. There will also be samplings, giveaways and interactive demonstrations.
