Chari Cuthbert, a previously lesser known, now an internationally known, designer and founder of BYCHARI in Los Angeles, told the New York Post, she was "honored" to find out that Michelle Obama wore the gold VOTE necklace she designed for the 2016 election at the 2020 national convention.
The LA-based jeweler, who's had her brand featured in Elle and was featured in TIME in early August, launched her sustainable company in 2012 with a vision of creating an affordable line of handmade jewelry for women and a brand that backs a menagerie of social justice causes.
Cuthbert heads a diverse team of five women who have all been working to shift the business solely online, a process that TIME reported, was "relatively easy" as each team member transformed their dining room table into workstations.
