LA Dodgers Tommy Lasorda Hospitalized In Orange County
Tommy Lasorda, 93, was in intensive care and "resting comfortably," according to a tweet from the LA Dodgers Sunday morning.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Los Angeles Dodgers Hall of Famer Tommy Lasorda was reportedly staying in an Orange County hospital Sunday. Lasorda, 93, was in intensive care and "resting comfortably," according to a tweet from the LA Dodgers Sunday morning.
"The family appreciates everyone’s thoughts and prayers; however, they request their privacy at this time," officials from the Dodgers Twitter account tweeted.
Officials have not disclosed what Lasorda was hospitalized for or what condition he was in Sunday morning.

Lasorda has a long and storied history with baseball, particularly with the Dodgers. After more than 70 years in the Dodgers family, Lasorda is considered to be the face of the LA team that clinched this year's victory in the World Series, which Lasorda attended in Arlington, Texas.
He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1997, following 1,599 wins, two World Series and two National League pennants.

Lasorda first signed with the Phillies in 1945 and later played for the Royals. But he made his major league debut in 1954 with the Dodgers, playing with the LA team for two seasons before he was traded to the Kansas City Athletics.
Retiring in 1960, he joined the LA Dodgers as a scout and later a manager. He managed the Dodgers from 1976 to 1996.
By 1978, the Dodgers won two straight National League championships, becoming the first National League manager to win pennants in their first two seasons. After losing the World Series to Yankees in both 1977 and 1978, Lasorda led the Dodgers to win the World Series in 1981 over Yankees and again in 1988 against the A's.
The Hall of Famer retired in 1996 but went on to mange the U.S. Olympic Baseball Team, clinching a gold medal for the team in the Sydney Games. He currently serves as special advisor to the chairman for the Dodgers.
