LA Firefighters Caught Kicking, Punching Homeless Man: Report

A video shows several firefighters punching and kicking a homeless man in the Silver Lake area of Los Angeles.

LOS ANGELES, CA —A video circulating on social media Saturday showed Los Angeles Fire Department firefighters punching and kicking a homeless man in front of a fire station, according to media reports.

The fire department has launched an internal investigation and the firefighters involved in the conflict were detailed to administrative duties, a spokesperson told City News Service.

The transient in the video had attempted to break into the fire station, according to firefighters involved in the altercation. In the video, three firefighters are dragging the man away from the station. Firefighters can also be seen throwing punches and kicking the man as they pull him away from the station, video footage shows.

A woman who lives behind the station told ABC7 that the transient is a "troublemaker" and frequently causes issues with homeless people and others in the neighborhood.
