Armed Teen Forces Los Angeles High School Lockdown: Police

The school was placed on lockdown Wednesday morning.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Los Angeles High School in the Mid-Wilshire area was placed on lockdown Wednesday morning as police search for a gun that a student may have used to threaten another person during a road-rage incident, according to authorities.

Police responded to an initial call about the incident, which occurred on the 1100 block of West Boulevard at around 8:15 a.m. The victim reported being threatened by a person with a gun during a road-rage incident, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Charles Miller told Patch.

The victim then followed the suspect into Los Angeles High School, he said.

The suspect, a male student at the school, was taken into custody by Los Angeles School Police Department officers, Miller said.

The school was locked down as officers searched for the gun, he said.

Several other juveniles may have been involved in the incident.

A Los Angeles Unified School District spokesperson provided the following statement to KTLA:

“Today, the school initiated a lockdown as we received reports of a possible weapon on campus ... We took immediate action, including notifying the Los Angeles School Police Department and Region West Operations for further investigation. The Los Angeles School Police Department and the Los Angeles Police Department are conducting a search of the campus for weapons. We will provide additional information once it is available.”
