LOS ANGELES, CA — An officer-involved shooting in the southwest Los Angeles area Thursday left a suspect wounded, police said.

Officers were sent to the area of 40th Place and Menlo Avenue about 11 a.m. on a report from a juvenile that his mother had been stabbed, said LAPD Officer Sal Ramirez.

After officers arrived at the location, an officer-involved shooting occurred and a male suspect was wounded, Ramirez said. It was unclear if a woman actually had been stabbed, police said.
