LAX Ranked Worst Airport In CA For Lost And Damaged Luggage: Forbes

The Forbes report revealed that LAX is likely to mishandle luggage according to claims submitted to TSA between 2013 and 2022.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Los Angeles International Airport ranked among the top three airports in the nation for worst airports for lost and damaged luggage, according to a new report from Forbes Advisor.

With summer travel season in full swing, many Angelinos are packing their belongings into suitcases and making their way to LAX. However, the Forbes report revealed that the airport is likely to mishandle luggage according to claims submitted to TSA between 2013 and 2022.

LAX was ranked the worst airport for lost and damaged luggage in California, with 0.81 property loss claims per 100,000 domestic passengers and 0.70 property damage claims per 100,000 domestic passengers.

For reimbursements, LAX fully paid back 18.82 percent of property loss claims and 26.82 percent of property damage claims.

Other Golden State airports landed in the top 20 of the list including San Diego International Airport in 11th place, Oakland International Airport in 18th place and Palm Springs International Airport in 20th place.

According to a recent survey, Forbes found that 60 percent of American adults with vacations coming up in the next six months said they were worried about airlines losing their luggage.

So which airline was found most likely to mishandle luggage? According to Forbes, American Airlines was at the top of the list, with just over 5 mishandled bags per 1,000 suitcases. SkyWest Airlines and United Airlines rounded out the top three worst airlines for mishandled luggage.

  2. Miami International Airport in Miami
  3. Los Angeles International Airport in California
  4. Norfolk International Airport in Virginia
  5. Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Florida
  6. Boston Logan International Airport in Boston
  7. Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, Nevada
  8. Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey
  9. Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu, Hawaii
  10. Dulles International Airport in Washington D.C.
