Los Angeles Author Beck Medina Debuts New Fantasy Novel
Two-time author has sold more than 500 books nationwide

Today, Beck Medina – two-time youth author and Los Angeles native – debuted her fantasy novel, “All The Stars on Fire” to audiences nationwide. In December 2019, a soft-launch took place to announce the book to Medina’s social media followers, family and friends. Today, the novel is available for purchase on Amazon, Barnes & Noble and wherever books are sold online.
“All The Stars on Fire” is the empowering story of two formidable LatinX women who must fight for change, Natalia and Alyse. Throughout the book, readers will enjoy the women navigate maturity, step into their power, embrace their LatinX heritage, and understand what it means to be a heroine — risk and rewards included. Natalie and Alyse must learn to navigate the complexities of adulthood while being double marginalized – minority and women – in order to save themselves and their community.
“One of my main goals as an author is to increase the diversity of characters displayed in youth author novels, which is what I’ve accomplished with ‘All The Stars on Fire,” said Medina. “It’s important for my readers nationwide to see themselves in books, film and all forms of creative. I want them to know their stories matter, too.”

The new book focuses on Natalia’s secret participation in the Action Team, a group of young activists created to protect Angel City. Alyse knows her sister’s secret and fears that if Natalia continues with the Action Team, it will put their family at risk. Alyse is injured one night while Natalia is crime-fighting, forcing her to leave the Action Team and tend to her sister. Later in the book, a new threat appears in the city, prompting the Action Team to engage Natalie for help, yet she has already promised her family she would leave the superhero life behind. As the pages turn, Natalia is forced with pursuing her dreams, or honoring the commitment she’s made to her family.
“All The Stars on Fire” captures various cultural themes that shape the LatinX experience, and that of many minority children living in the United States. The main character is determined to pursue her dreams despite the resistance she receives from her family, all while overcoming mental illness. “As the story goes on, readers piece together that Alyse is managing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), which is often mislabeled by some as an invisible disorder,” said Medina. “Natalia experiences a series of unfortunate events that lead to a breaking point and her openly discussing her mental health. As someone living with PTSD, I know how challenging those conversations can be, yet I want to use my platform to eliminate mental health stigma and let readers know they are never alone.”
