Excited students gathered at the Lair Marketplace on October 9 for Colombian cuisine prepared by a visiting chef.

Loyola Marymount University (LMU) Dining by Sodexo, as part of its Global Chef Program, welcomed Chef Joaquin Suarez who prepared lunch and dinner for students and a catering showcase the following day.

“Chef Suarez’s interaction with our campus community was extremely well-received and provided yet another positive and delicious experience,” said Resident District Manager Kyle Suerth. “We were thrilled to see students telling friends and coming back for seconds.”

Born into a family of foodies, Joaquin Suarez says his passion for food has inspired him to live and learn through aromas, colors, flavors, and textures of food from different cultures, and that food tells a story.

Chef Suarez is senior manager of culinary arts for Sodexo Colombia.

Global Chef is an international chef residency that brings Sodexo's top chefs from around the world to different countries in order to share authentic cuisines and cooking techniques on campus. It serves as a showcase of culinary talent from operations in 80 countries bringing a unique dining experience to guests.

LMU Dining hosts various global options throughout the year as part of the Modern Recipe brand hosted in the Resident Dining Facility, Lair. These include flavorful plant forward dishes from around the world.
