Man Dies After Cutting Off Penis On Los Angeles Street: Report

LOS ANGELES, CA — A man is dead after allegedly cutting off his penis in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday, according to police and a KTLA report.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to Patch that officers responded to the intersection of Figueroa Street and Pico Boulevard around 3:40 a.m. for a report of a man cutting himself.

Officers arrived and found the man suffering from what police described as extensive injuries. Authorities also determined the man had been injuring himself.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Police did not provide additional details about the man's identity or the nature of his injuries.

According to a KTLA report citing news stringer service OnSceneTV, the man had "mutilated himself" and “cut his penis off and bled to death." However, police have not released an official cause of death.

The station also reported that footage of the scene showed a large wound in the man's groin area and blood near his clothing.
