LANCASTER, CA — A man was fatally wounded during a stabbing this morning in Lancaster, authorities said.

It was reported at 4:36 a.m. Saturday in the 400 block of East Lancaster Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies responding to a call of an assault with a deadly weapon found the victim suffering from a stab wound, Sheriff's Homicide Lt. Steve De Jong told reporters at the scene.

"There was some sort of altercation that took place," De Jong said.

The victim was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
