BURBANK, CA — A man suffering through a medical emergency this morning at the center divider to the Golden State (5) Freeway in Burbank was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

The incident occurred at 4:10 a.m. on the southbound freeway at the Buena Vista Street off-ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol.

It was not immediately known what kind of medical emergency the decedent had and whether he was a passenger or motorist inside a vehicle.

A SigAlert issued at 4:49 a.m., which closed the carpool as well as the Nos. 1 and 2 lanes for approximately two hours, was cancelled at 6:55 a.m.
