Bystanders Intervene When Man Tries To Kidnap Girl, 11

Police in Los Angeles County sought the public's help in finding a man who groped and attempted to kidnap a pre-teen girl.

According to police, the girl was walking near M Street and Gulf Avenue in Wilmington at around 3:15 p.m. when a man approached her from behind, fondled her chest and attempted to take her from the area.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Law enforcement is searching for a man suspected of sexually assaulting and attempting to kidnap an 11-year-old girl in Los Angeles County this week.

According to police, the girl was walking near M Street and Gulf Avenue in Wilmington on Monday at around 3:15 p.m. when a man approached her from behind, fondled her chest and attempted to drag her from the area. Witnesses nearby intervened, prompting the suspect to flee in his vehicle without the child.

LAPD described the suspect as about 20 to 30 years old who is approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs about 240 pounds. The suspect drove a gray Nissan Kicks with a spare wheel mounted on the rear passenger side.
