Movie Theater Chain Abruptly Shutters Most Of Its SoCal Locations: Reports
The theater chain abruptly closed most of its Southern California locations over the weekend.

Independent theater chain LOOK Dine-In Cinemas abruptly closed most of its Los Angeles-area locations over the weekend amid financial difficulties, according to reports.
The company closed its theaters in Downey, Redlands and Monrovia over the weekend, representing three of its four California theaters. Its Glendale location remains open, KTLA reported.
“This was not an easy decision and is in no way a reflection on the dedication, talent or hard work of the teams in these locations,” the company said in a statement. “California has been an important part of our company’s history, and we are deeply grateful for the commitment our team members bring to our customers and communities every day.”

LOOK marketed itself as a higher-end moviegoing experience where customers could order food and drinks at their seats.
The Downey location was only open for less than five years, according to the Downey Patriot.

The Redlands location was purchased in 2017 by Studio Movie Grill. In 2021, financial challenges prompted a transition into LOOK Cinemas, according to Community Forward Redlands News.
LOOK Cinemas' parent company filed for bankruptcy protection in 2024. Its most recent monthly operating report showed it had significant debt and negative equity, according to the publication.
The Texas-based company now has seven total locations in five states, according to its website.
