Man Allegedly Armed With Knife Fatally Shot By LAPD In Downtown LA

Police said the man was allegedly threatening a person with a knife at a Downtown apartment building.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Los Angeles Police Department officers fatally shot a man in the Downtown area Thursday morning who was allegedly threatening somebody with a knife at an apartment building, authorities said.

According to the LAPD, officers received a report of an assault with a deadly weapon at the Ford apartment building at 11:35 a.m. on Thursday in the 1000 block of East 7th Street. Authorities said no officers or bystanders were injured in a Twitter post.

KTLA5 reported that the man was carrying a large butcher knife. Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department treated the man's wound and transported him to a local hospital, where he later died, LAPD said.

No information about the man's identity was available and a knife allegedly wielded by the suspect was recovered at the scene, police said.
