Omar Merheb joins HNTB as transportation director
Merheb brings regional, national and international experience from major transportation projects

Omar Merheb joined HNTB Corporation’s growing Southern California team as transportation director. He will support the Interstate 405 Improvement Project, and will play a key role on future opportunities to help grow the transportation practice. He is based in the firm’s office in Santa Ana, California.
Merheb has over 27 years of experience in transportation engineering, predominately in project management, design-build projects, urban transportation master planning, traffic engineering, transit and rail planning, parking studies, travel demand forecasting and transportation research.

Prior to joining HNTB, Merheb worked on major transportation projects in the United States for 21 years and spent six years in the United Arab Emirates working on some of the most unique and challenging transportation projects in that region. He worked closely with local government agencies, private developers, and consultants in the U.S. and UAE, and he was involved with detailed technical analysis and project management of numerous major transportation projects. His experience encompasses the Interstate-405 PMC Design-Build and the SR-22 Design-Build Freeway Improvement projects in Orange County, California, and the Gerald Desmond Bridge Design-Build in Los Angeles, among others.
Merheb earned both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in civil engineering from the University of California, Irvine. His affiliations include the Institute of Transportation Engineers, American Society of Civil Engineers, and the Transportation Engineers Council.
