Another one for the books! Last night's Academy Awards ceremony played out as expected, yet still managed to throw in some zingers by the show's end. Despite sneaking in some election-year political banter in his monologues, host Jimmy Kimmel played it relatively safe.

Ryan Gosling brought the house down with his live performance of "Barbie's" nominated original song "I'm Just Ken," despite the academy's overall lukewarm reception of the film. Meanwhile, Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” won seven Oscars, further cementing Nolan's legacy in Hollywood. While Nolan won for best director, both nominated actors from the film took home gold statues — Cillian Murphy for lead and Robert Downey Jr. for supporting.

While those wins were deserved, they were expected by many in the industry. It was Emma Stone taking home the top honor for female lead actor that shocked all, as it was widely expected to go to Lily Gladstone for her role in "Killers of the Flower Moon." Emma Stone previously took home the Oscar for best female lead for her work in "La La Land."
