Pair Of Quakes Rattle CA's Central Coast

A magnitude 4.7 earthquake rattled about 11 miles away from the small coastal town of San Simeon at 4:42 p.m., according to the United States Geological Survey. A second temblor was reported at 4:49 near the same area.

MILPITAS, CA— Two earthquakes struck the Central Coast of California on Monday afternoon.

A magnitude 4.7 earthquake rattled about 11 miles away from the small coastal town of San Simeon at 4:42 p.m., according to the United States Geological Survey. A second temblor was reported at 4:49 near the same area.

The town is about 240 miles from San Francisco.
