Person Killed In 2-Vehicle Crash On 5 Freeway Near Los Feliz

LOS ANGELES, CA — Authorities released more details Sunday about a two-vehicle crash on the Golden State (5) Freeway in Los Feliz that left one person dead and another with major injuries.

The crash occurred at 8:25 a.m. Saturday on the northbound freeway at the Los Feliz Boulevard off-ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A Toyota Corolla was driving northbound in the No. 4 lane when it veered into the right shoulder, according to a CHP news release.

"After veering into the right shoulder, the driver of the Toyota Corolla sedan veered across the lanes to its left impacting the concrete center divider," according to the statement. "The driver lost control of the vehicle and impacted a Honda Pilot SUV, propelling both vehicles to the right shoulder."

The Corolla then struck a concrete wall.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene and paramedics rushed another person to a hospital, the CHP said. It was unclear if the decedent and the person rushed to a hospital with major injuries were inside the Toyota or Honda.
