Porsche Driver Threatens To Go Off Mulholland Cliff
It took two hours but authorities talked the distressed driver from the edge.

STUDIO CITY, CA — Authorities managed to get a man threatening to drive a Porsche over the edge of West Mulholland Drive's scenic lookout point to back down Tuesday afternoon. After about two hours at the edge, authorities took the man into custody.
Police and fire department officials were called to the scene of 8500 block of West Mulholland Drive in the Studio City area shortly after 10:30 a.m., according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey.
The Los Angeles police and fire department staging shut down the area around West Mulholland Drive as crews worked with the distressed driver in an effort to get him to back down, according to authorities.

By 12:30, he got out of his car and surrendered to police.
"LAPD has safely assisted the male in exiting his parked vehicle, and taken him into custody," Humphrey said. "He will be examined by LAFD Paramedics, prior to LAPD or LAFD transport to a facility most appropriate to his current needs."

No injuries were reported, and the area was expected to reopen to traffic.
