Protesters To Decry U.S. Airstrike On Iran At L.A. Protest

LOS ANGELES, CA — Protesters are expected to take to the streets of Los Angeles Thursday evening to rally against the possibility of the U.S. entering into a war with Iran.

The rally comes days after the U.S. airstrike on Iran and killing of Iranian Major General Qasem Soleimani. In retaliation Iran attacked two U.S. military bases in Iraq.

"We must gather in solidarity and stand against war. We will not be forced into another war," the Los Angeles protest organizers said.

Liberal advocacy groups Move On and Indivisible are behind the war protests in L.A. and throughout the country. As of Wednesday morning, 245 protests had been organized, according to the rally's website.

"Trump's reckless action has needlessly endangered countless lives of U.S. troops, Iraqis, Iranians, and countless other civilians," organizers wrote on their website. "The devastation that a war with Iran could bring upon the earth and humanity cannot be overstated—millions of lives hang in the balance."

Protesters will meet Thursday at 5 p.m., at Los Angeles City Hall and the 7th Street overpass. Rally organizers are using the hashtag #NoWarWithIran.
