📰 Here are the top stories today in Los Angeles:

  1. Gabrielino High School at 1201 South San Gabriel Boulevard went on lockdown Tuesday. The school had received a bomb threat. Students were evacuated and parents were called in to pick them up. Police officers and K-9s searched the facility, but ended their investigation in the early afternoon. They didn't report finding anything. (NBC)
  2. On Monday, the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) responded to a deadly structure fire at 17063 West Knapp Street. The initial call came in just before 6:30 a.m. Firefighters determined that content in an attached garage conversion had caught fire. While they were fighting the blaze, they found a lifeless male adult. “Fire cause (is) under active investigation.” (LAFD)
  3. Last Wednesday, we talked about the dump truck rampage near 107th Street and Normandie Avenue. On Monday, the suspect, a 60-year-old man, turned himself in to the Sheriff’s Department. “He was arrested and bail was initially set at $100,000.” (Patch, ABC)
  4. After three years, Eszett, the restaurant at 3510 Sunset Boulevard, is closing. The owners point at the pandemic and said “we tried our best to adapt time and time again, but there is only so much we can do.” The last day to eat there will be Monday, and the owners hope you’ll stop by. However, all is not lost: Team members are taking over the space and will be opening a new concept in February. It will be named The Ruby Fruit, and bills itself as a wine bar. (Eszett)
  5. If you’ve been eyeing the 2003 La Brea Tier property owned by Helen Mirren and Taylor Hackford, but the $18,500,000 price tag is a turn-off, here’s good news: On Tuesday, we learned that the couple re-listed the property for $16,995,000. Or, you might rent it for $39,995 per month. For this money, you get privacy, 6.5 acres, eight bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, and a gorgeous interior. (Realtor.com)
