Robbery Spree Perpetrator Sentenced To 10 Years After Crimes Around LA County

The man's crime spree included a carjacking and robberies in LA, Culver City, Marina del Rey, Long Beach, Whittier and more, the DOJ said.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A Los Angeles man was sentenced to 10 years in prison Wednesday following a crime spree that included a carjacking and robberies in Los Angeles, Culver City, Marina del Rey, Long Beach, Whittier, Baldwin Hills and Pomona, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Namir Greene, 23, pleaded guilty in September to one federal count of interference with commerce by robbery. He was also ordered to pay restitution of $17,084 as part of his sentencing, according to federal prosecutors.

Greene admitted that on April 4 he robbed a Marina del Rey Shell station by pointing a BB gun — which had the appearance of a semi-automatic handgun — at the clerk while demanding cash, prosecutors said.

He also admitted to using the BB gun to seal a Honda Accord from its owner. Police located the car in Ontario on April 15 during a traffic stop. Greene tried to escape after crashing the car and was barehanded by police shortly after, prosecutors said.
