'Rude' Man Pushes LA Woman Into $10 Million Lottery Jackpot
LaQuedra Edwards nearly crashed on the 405 Freeway when she realized a man who pushed her into the lottery vending machine changed her life.

SACRAMENTO – The fates gave a Los Angeles woman a little shove recently, literally pushing her into a lottery vending machine and a $10 million jackpot.
It happened at a Vons Supermarket in Tarzana in November. LaQuedra Edwards had just put $40 into a California Lottery Scratchers vending machine and was starting to select her ticket when “some rude person” bumped into her, she said.
“He just bumped into me, didn’t say a thing and just walked out the door,” Edwards told California Lottery officials.

To make matters worse, the impact forced her to hit the wrong button, selecting a $30 200X Scratchers ticket she had no intention of buying. Edwards remembered being irritated because she spent so much money on a single ticket instead of her usual smaller favorites.
She was feeling rather put out when she walked to her car. She didn’t wait until she got home to scratch the accidental Scratcher. She did it right there in the parking lot. Still, she didn’t believe her eyes when she uncovered the $10 million prize.

“I didn’t really believe it at first, but I got on the 405 freeway and kept looking down at (the ticket), and I almost crashed my car,” Edwards said. “I pulled over, looked at it again and again, scanned it with my app, and I just kept thinking this can’t be right.”
“I’m still in shock. All I remember saying once I found out how much I just won was, ‘I’m rich!’” Edwards said recently as she collected her winnings.
She plans to use the money to buy a house and start a non-profit organization, turning that fateful push into a force for good.
