WOODLAND HILLS, CA — Los Angeles Police are looking for a gunman suspected of firing on a pro-Trump caravan in Woodland Hills.
The incident forced the closure of Ventura Boulevard and triggered a 5-hour standoff at an apartment complex where three suspects were believed to be holed up. A Los Angeles Police Department SWAT Team surrounded the building, launched a chemical irritant inside and entered the unit at about 5 p.m. to find it empty.
Police responded to a report of gunshots at a caravan rally in support of President Donald Trump in the 20600 block of Ventura Boulevard at about 11:30 a.m. Sunday. No one was wounded in the shooting. It remained unclear Sunday evening if detectives were able to confirm that the alleged shooting took place.

Police thought they had three suspects barricaded at the scene including a man seen with a gun at the apartment building. Ventura Boulevard was shut down, according to Officer Drake Madison of the Los Angeles Police Department.
"It's still a fluid situation," Madison said.

The alleged violence is the latest in a series of clashes nationwide between groups protesting police brutality and right-wing groups organizing pro-Trump caravans. The caravans appear to be targeting police protest hotspots such as Portland and Los Angeles.
On Saturday skirmishes between pro-Trump demonstrators and police protesters shut down portions of Santa Monica Boulevard. A bomb squad was called in to handle a suspicious package at the scene, and protesters were ordered to disperse.

A man affiliated with a right-wing group was shot and killed during a similar caravan Saturday in Portland where protesters have been demonstrating for weeks, The New York Times reported. The caravans were organized after two protesters were killed and another was wounded in Kenosha, Wis amid a clash between protesters and armed vigilantes. A 17-year-old pro-police, pro-Trump gunman is facing first-degree intentional homicide charges in the Kenosha shootings.
The president took to Twitter on Sunday as the violence unfolded to attack Portland's mayor and praise his supporter killed amid the clash there.
As Los Angeles police attempted to keep the peace between various factions Sunday, Trump tweeted a call to arms for his supporters.
"The only way you will stop the violence in the high crime Democrat run cities is through strength!," he tweeted.
