Shooting Targeting LAPD Officer Shuts Down LA Area Freeway
One suspect is in custody following a shooting that shut down the Harbor (110) Freeway Wednesday.
LOS ANGELES, CA — The Harbor (110) Freeway wass shut down in both directions for about two hours Wednesday following a report of a car-to-car shooting involving a Los Angeles Police Department vehicle.
There were no injuries in the shooting, and a suspect is in custody, but the freeway was closed in both directions while detectives search for evidence, according to LAPD Officer J Chaves.
The shooting was reported at 12:10 p.m. on the southbound side of the freeway in South Los Angeles, Chaves told Patch.

According to authorities, the officer was driving in the express lane when he was fired upon by a suspect in a vehicle he was following.
The freeway remained closed between Grand Avenue and Imperial Highway until about 2 p.m.

The closure backed up traffic for miles, and commuters were advised to avoid the area.
