SigAlert: 5 Children Injured In 110 Freeway Pileup In Downtown LA

Firefighters worked to free patients trapped in the wreckage, and two adults and five children were hospitalized.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Two adults and five children were trapped and seriously injured in a pileup on the Harbor (110) Freeway Wednesday evening in the Downtown area.

The crash occurred shortly after 8 p.m. on the southbound 110 Freeway, near the Santa Monica (10) Freeway, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Firefighters worked to free the crash victims and, seven patients were transported to nearby hospitals, said fire department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart. According to Stewart, a 34-year-old woman, a 10 year-old girl and a baby suffered non-life threatening injuries. Four patients — a 27-year-old woman, 6 and 3-year-old girls and a baby were in critical condition.

The cause of the crash was under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
