SigAlert: Police Chase Snarls 405 And 105 Freeways

Police pursued and arrested a suspected car thief near LAX Friday afternoon, triggering a SigAlert at the 105/405 freeway transition.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A brief police chase shut down traffic at the westbound Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway transition to the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway near Los Angeles International Airport Friday afternoon.

As of 4 p.m., a SigAlert for the transition remained in effect, and the California Highway Patrol urged drivers to avoid the area.

The chase began shortly after 2:30 p.m. when Torrance Police Department officers began pursuing a person suspected of stealing a car from a nearby mall, according to CHP Officer Edgar Figueroa. Officers quickly arrested the suspect, but the ongoing investigation shut down the slow lanes at the transition.
