Man Falls To His Death On 405 Freeway From Overpass: SigAlert

A man died Thursday in a fall from the Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway onto the San Diego (405) Freeway​.

WESTCHESTER, CA — A man died jumping or falling from a freeway overpass onto the San Diego (405) Freeway Thursday afternoon, backing up traffic for miles in the Westchester area.

The California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert expected to last until at least 3 p.m. The ongoing investigation is affecting portions of the Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway and the San Diego (405) Freeway.

At about 1:30 p.m., paramedics were called to the scene, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

"LAFD responded to reports of a person who jumped off the 105 (Freeway) overpass to the 405 (Freeway)," according to an LAFD statement. "Firefighters located one patient ... determined deceased on scene."

The man apparently was in his 30s, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Motorists were being advised to avoid the area.
