SigAlert: Tanker Leaks Fuel Onto 605 Freeway
The SigAlert was expected to last for hours, according to the California Highway Patrol.
LOS ANGELES, CA — A tanker truck leaked fuel onto the the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway in Irwindale Friday afternoon, backing up traffic for miles.
The mishap forced the California Highway Patrol to issue a SigAlert for the Southbound side of the freeway south of Live Oak Avenue in Irwindale. A Los Angeles County Fire Department hazmat team has been called into clean up the fuel, which leaked onto the number 3 lane of the freeway.
According to the CHP, metal debris in the road may have damaged the truck, which sustained a puncture wound to its tanker trailer. The numbers 3 and 4 lanes were temporarily shut down for the cleanup

The SigAlert was issued at 11:43 a.m. and was expected to last roughly two hours, according to the CHP.
Commuters are advised to avoid the area.
