Sodexo and LMU Student Affairs Host High Tea

In collaboration with LMU CARES, the high tea service was held to raise awareness and provide resources for Sexual Assault Awareness Month

Sodexo at Loyola Marymount University (LMU) Dining, in collaboration with LMU CARES, a program in LMU Student Affairs, recently hosted a successful high tea service to raise awareness and provide resources during Sexual Assault Awareness Month. "We are thrilled with the outcome of our high tea service," said Resident District Manager Kyle Suerth of LMU Dining by Sodexo. "It's heartening to see our community come together to support such an important cause."

Planning and Collaboration

The high tea event was meticulously planned by LMU Dining Services and LMU C.A.R.E.S. The dining team was responsible for crafting a specialized menu, creating elegant invitations, and coordinating the marketing collateral and décor. LMU C.A.R.E.S contributed significantly by bringing in Alexandria House for a philanthropic donation, aligning the event with broader community support efforts.

Promotion and Engagement

To ensure high attendance, LMU Dining Services' marketing team collaborated closely with LMU C.A.R.E.S. Invitations were hand-delivered to key stakeholders across the campus, and table tents with event details and RSVP instructions were strategically placed around the campus. To make the event accessible to all students, a special student rate was offered, encouraging broader participation.

Educational Impact

During the high tea service, attendees engaged in key discussions about sexual assault awareness and prevention. Educational materials and resources were provided to empower individuals with knowledge and support, facilitating important conversations on how to address and prevent sexual violence in the community. Briana Maturi from LMU CARES and a representative from Alexandria House spoke at the event.

Partnership with Alexandria House

One of the event highlights was the collaboration with Alexandria House, a local women's shelter dedicated to assisting women and children in crisis across Los Angeles. Proceeds from the high tea service were donated to Alexandria House, aiding their mission of providing safe and supportive housing and resources. This partnership exemplified the community's commitment to supporting vulnerable groups and making a tangible impact.

Feedback and Future Initiatives

The feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing a desire for similar events in the future. Motivated by this success, it has been decided that the high tea event will be held every semester going forward, continuing the tradition of campus and philanthropic collaboration.
