LOS ANGELES, CA — The son of a Los Angeles rap executive and alleged leader of a street gang was fatally shot outside a smoke shop late Friday night, according to reports citing police and his family.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers were dispatched to the intersection of 69th Street and Figueroa Street in South Los Angeles around 11:10 p.m. for a report of a shooting, KTLA reported.
“The victim, described as a 34-year-old Black male, walked up to the suspect vehicle when an unknown suspect or suspects shot at him,” an LAPD spokesperson confirmed to KTLA.

While police did not confirm whether the shooting was linked to gang violence, family sources told TMZ the victim was Jabari "Baby Uiie" Henley, the son of Eugene "Big U" Henley. Other online reports also identified Jabari Henley as the victim.
Eugene Henley is a music label owner, activist and is also the alleged former leader of the Rollin' 60’s Neighborhood Crips gang. He is known in the music industry for managing artists like Kurupt and the late Nipsey Hussle, who was also a notable member of Rolling 60’s.

Eugene Henley is currently incarcerated after a federal grand jury returned a 43-count indictment in March, charging him with dozens of felonies, including fraud, robbery, extortion, tax evasion, embezzlement of donations to his charity that receives public money, and running a racketeering conspiracy in which he allegedly murdered an aspiring musician, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
The indictment claimed Eugene Henley operated his company, Big U Enterprise, as a mafia-like organization that used his stature and long-standing association with the Rollin’ 60s and other street gangs to intimidate businesses and individuals in Los Angeles.
The indictment also accused Eugene Henley of murdering an aspiring musician signed to his music label, dragging the victim’s body off Interstate 15 in Las Vegas and leaving it in a ditch.
He pleaded not guilty to all charges in May. If convicted, he could spend decades in prison.
