Stephen Koppekin was later accepted into Rutgers School of Law and worked closely with Alfred W. Blumrosen, law professor and first Director of Conciliation. While working on a case backlog in the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights, Stephen realized he could effectively trim a filer’s “waiting time” down to forty days from the previous nine months’ expected time. Upon arriving at this solution, he determined he could use his problem-solving prowess to streamline processes and solutions for organizations. In 1970, Stephen earned his Juris Doctor and later went on to pursue his passions for employment and labor.
After graduating from law school, Stephen began a position working at a small general practice firm. At the firm, he became well-versed in small claims, wills, and real estate. Six months later, he moved on to begin working with the National Labors Relation Board, where he successfully tried numerous cases. Stephen’s prowess led him to CBS, where he began working in the company’s law department as an attorney. At the department, Stephen was responsible for overseeing internal labor and employment disputes, and ultimately became the Vice President in Negotiating Services and Labor Relations.
